3rd year - 2009/2010
Dr. habil. Beate Littig and Dr. Monika Lengauer (both of the Institute for Advanced Studies) carried out a workshop “Expert interviews as a qualitative method” together with the Graduiertenzentrum SoWi.
During the research atelier held by Prof. Melchior the fellows discussed the progress of their dissertation and gave feedback to each other.
Prof. Risse (FU Berlin) was invited to give a talk about Governance in the beginning of May 2010.
"New Dynamics of Governance in the 21st Century" – an public lecture event in cooperation with the Center for Doctoral Studies and the Bank Austria was organized by the fellows in June 2010.
2nd year - 2008/2009
At the beginning of the second year the ViGo presented itself at the Institute of Political Science with a "Ganggespräche" introduction of the program and the individual projects.
A workshop with Prof. Dr. Reinhart Kössler (Westfälische Wilhems-Universität Münster) "The state in the postcolony" together with the Graduiertenzentrum SoWi and the research atelier with Prof. Melchior offered the fellows the opportunity to continue to work on their dissertation.
During the summer semester the fellows went on field trips to Cameroon, China, England, Germany, Ghana, Kosovo, Lithuania, Moldova, Northern Ireland, the Philippines, Slovakia, South Africa and Uganda in order to gain data for their dissertation.
1st year - 2007/2008
The Vienna School of Governance started with a one day introductory seminar for the fellows and the faculty about “Researching Governance: Theory, Methodology and Methods“ held by Prof. Dr. Falkner.
On 11th December the official opening of the IK took place at the University of Vienna. After speeches of Prof. Dr. Rudolf Richter (dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences), Prof. Dr. Susanne Weigelin-Schwiedrzik (vice-dean of the Faculty of Philological and Cultural Studies), Prof. Dr. Rüdiger Frank (ViGo vice-speaker) the fellows presented their posters.
In January 2008 a one week seminar was held by Prof. Dr. Eva Sørensen and Prof. Dr. Jacob Torfing (both of Roskilde Universitet) in addition to the regular research ateliers (in the winter semester with Prof. Zips, in the summer semester with Prof. Falkner) in cooperation with the Institute for Advanced Studies.
In the summer semester Prof. Gottweis held the seminar “Governance Theory Applied“ and the seminar “Governance in Asia“ brought in a number of experts as guest lecturers in this research field.
