Curriculum
The curriculum aims at providing our PhD-students with a sound theoretical and methodological basis and advanced knowledge about the main challenges of governance research. It is organized around three main areas of study that correlate with the faculty's research foci described above:
- theories, methodology and methods of governance research
- fields of governance (policy dimension) and
- spaces of governance (geographical and regional dimension)
The programme is intended to support our PhD-students in the development of their own research capabilities and professional skills. In addition to the core curriculum the programme offers
- practical research training
- a supportive structure of individual monitoring and supervision
- support for participation in international conferences
- support for participation in a summer school with the aim of acquiring specialized knowledge or methodical skills
- support for participation in international exchange and field research abroad
- the opportunity of acquiring teaching skills in higher education
- the opportunity to gain experience in workshop organization and
- customized training on project management, scientific writing in English, and language skills
The primary language of instruction is English, although some additional training modules may be taught in German. The dissertation has to be written in English.
